The Pyjama Library Program

The Pyjama Library Program aims to instill love of reading in children, encouraging discussion of Jewish values in the family and school.  The program was established by the Harold Greenspan Foundation, and operates in conjunction with the Ministry of Education.  Every book is presented by Beit Tziporah educators to children in grades 1 to 3.  Following a class activity, each child receives her or his own copy of the book as a gift for the family's home library.  The book includes ideas for shared parent-child activities that encourage deeper understanding of the values presented in the book.  In addition to the reading experience, interaction with books is a fertile opportunity for family discourse that allows parents to convey their personal views on a wide range of topics to their children, the next generation.
