High Tech Class
The excellence class is now in its third year at Beit Tziporah, aimed at 4th grade children showing excellence in technological skills. The project's goal is to identify and nurture primary school age children towards computer sciences and programming. The children are chosen for the program following a selection workshop conducted by the project's high-tech world entrepreneur, Mr. Ofer Keinan. During the year children learn the Scratch and Java languages and are taken on trips to technology greenhouses such as the Technion, Walla and Google offices, and more. As the program progresses, the children develop program games, then present their work to the other students and the staff leading the program. Successful programming game development is a precondition for moving to the project's next stage. Over the course of the program, pupils who successfully pass their exams are provided with a personal mentor from the hi-tech world, as well as a laptop which allows them to continue their work. This program accompanies pupils all the way through Grade 12, and helps integrate them into the elite IDF 8200 unit and other top fields in technology.
